Summer Intern Program
Eastern Harmony Mental Health’s Summer Intern Program offers high school and college students meaningful opportunities to serve the community, build leadership skills, and support mental health awareness through real-world, community-based projects.
Why This Program Exists
Many young people want to support their communities but have limited opportunities to learn how mental health awareness and early support work in real life. Eastern Harmony created this program to empower youth to become caring, capable community leaders—helping reduce stigma, strengthen connection, and encourage early engagement with wellness resources.
Program Overview
Interns learn how community-based organizations promote mental wellbeing through culturally familiar community engagement, education, and connection to care. Through hands-on participation, interns support outreach efforts and community programs that help families access trusted information and local resources earlier—before challenges reach crisis levels.
What Interns Do
Interns work as part of a team and may support activities such as:
Supporting community wellness and cultural events
Assisting with outreach and community engagement
Helping create youth-friendly mental health awareness content
Supporting volunteer coordination and event readiness
Contributing to community program planning and improvement
Participating in guided reflection and leadership development
What Interns Learn
Interns develop skills and understanding in:
Mental health stigma reduction and wellness awareness
Community engagement and public communication
Leadership, teamwork, and project responsibility
Volunteer coordination and community event operations
How to connect individuals and families to appropriate support resources
Community Impact
Summer interns strengthen Eastern Harmony’s community capacity by supporting programs that engage thousands of residents each year. Interns help expand outreach, improve community access to wellness information, and contribute to a more connected and supportive environment for families.
Long-Term Impact
By engaging youth early, the Summer Intern Program helps cultivate future community leaders who are more aware of mental health challenges, more comfortable supporting peers and families, and more likely to remain engaged in community service and advocacy long after the program ends.

💬 Student Testimonial
“I had the most unique and rewarding experience working with the Eastern Harmony team.
As a student with several different interests, the internship opened doors for me to practice leadership while advocating for mental health through design and media.
I joined the internship as part of the media team with a passion for developing curriculum to educate high school students about mental health resources — something I feel the American school system often lacks.
From the moment I began working with Eric and Henry, I was met with openness to new ideas and genuine curiosity for collaboration. Seeing them actively ask for feedback showed how much they care about improving the program and building long-term relationships with interns.
I felt encouraged to initiate conversations about new ideas, many of which have continued into this year. As part of the 2026 internship, I’ve helped create curriculum designed to help other students find their place within Eastern Harmony and grow their passion beyond the program.”

💬 Student Testimonial
“Working with Eastern Harmony Mental Heath has been an incredibly meaningful and inspiring experience. As a student who is passionate about both outreach and community involvement, this internship gave me the opportunity to contribute to a cause that genuinely matters while developing new skills along the way.
Through this program, I was able to collaborate with other motivated students while helping bring awareness to events that promote mental health and accessibility for young people. Being part of the team allowed me to see how education and community can come together to make complex topics more approachable for students who might not otherwise have access to these conversations.
One of the most impactful parts of the internship was the supportive environment created by the leadership. From the beginning, everyone was encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and actively participate in shaping the direction of the program. The openness made it easy to feel comfortable contributing and taking initiative on new ideas.
Overall, this internship has helped me grow not only in my skills, but also in my confidence as a collaborator and leader. I’m grateful to have been part of a program that values student voices and works to create meaningful change in how mental health is discussed and supported among young people”
